It’s amazing how powerful a smile can be, even a forced one. Theo and James meet one night at a club and after a memorable encounter at the club, they find out that they work for the same company. This starts off as a bit of an instalove romance. This story is told from the dual perspectives of Theodore Davenport and James Holden. This book is also has a heavy story, but at least we sort of know what we’re getting into from the very beginning of this book. Well, I was looking forward to seeing what else the author had written, and with the gorgeous cover, I decided to give this a try. I had previously read the author’s Who We Are novel, and that story wrecked me. Please note: This book contains scenes of self harm, mental illness and suicidal ideation which may be uncomfortable for some readers. Is Theodore strong enough to confront James’ demons? More importantly, is James? James believes nobody deserves the burden of being attached to him. He can’t afford to care for someone who can never reciprocate, not once they find out who he really is. Just a little fun – that’s what James tells himself. James Holden hasn’t been able to stop thinking about his encounter with the timid man he met in a club bathroom last week, and when he discovers the one haunting his dreams is an employee, he can’t seem to stop himself from pursuing him.
